1. This is a TRAGEDY!
   However, I knew the opportunity that was given to Deepthi and the ‘window’ that was opened to us to systematically learn the all-encompassing Socio-Political Theory of the Vanguard Party through the Sath Handa ‘id’ supplement, in a country like this, was too good to be true!
   Reading the id supplement was something I looked forward to from every Friday evening. I bought the paper on Saturday morning and soon after lunch sat down and read it [the supplement] from first page to the last in to the late evening. Most of the time I do not read the rest of the paper except Saku Withanage’s short story because I really like his language style.
   When the paper was not available three Saturdays ago I called the distribution manager and he told me a machine is broken and the paper was distributed only in Colombo. Fortunately a friend of mine was in Colombo and I got that paper. But for two Sundays since then the paper was not available in Kandy. I was going to write to Deepthi when I saw this notice in 3 Mana.

   Anyway, as it is said “Every Good Thing Must Come to an End.” What we have to do is to strive to find a “New Beginning” each time that happens. ‘Knock on another door when one door closes’.

   I take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported Deepthi and contributed to the supplement and I hope all of you will continue this almost impossible task of “revolutionizing the Sri Lankan mind-set” and “revitalizing the Sri Lankan psyche”. I have heard that in one of the sermon of the Buddha he describes four types of people,
   1) those who go from light to light,
   2)those who go from darkness to light
   3)those who go from light to darkness and
   4)those who go from darkness to darkness
   If he was preaching this sermon today he would definitely take the Sri Lankan Buddhist society as an example of the forth kind. It is these people Deepthi has sacrificed his entire life to change. It is a “mission impossible” especially when you have limited resources, but it is a mission that is worth giving your best try specially because though Deepthi may not have the resources he has a good team around him.

   I would like to suggest, please try the best you all can to put out ‘id’ as a magazine once in two months. Now that you already have a reader base, I am sure we will be able to sell it and cover the costs and perhaps even make a small profit. I strongly feel it is a project worth giving your best shot. I look forward to reading the other upcoming 6 publications listed in the above 3Mana article/notice.

   I also would like to suggest that it is high time Deepthi and the team SERIOUSLY consider what is called “Crowd funding” in its basic sense.

   We too are ALWAYS with you.
