You should see that your writers get their facts correct when you criticize people on the basis of their personal and professional lives even though it is not good political practice even from a Zizekian perspective to resort to low-level personal attacks on people. One should not slander former friends just because they have fallen out with you and now you consider them enemy. This is not the Marxist –Leninist politics you claim to be engaging in. I am referring to the anonymous attack on your pages on Dr. Kumudu Kusum Kumara. I write here because you don’t allow to comment under that article without four types of accounts. (Also, even though you say there are 14 comments there are none there.) Pl.place this comment under the relevant article with the attack on Dr. Kumudu. For your information if Dr. Kumudu had a philosophy degree he could not have joined the Dept. of Sociology at Colombo under the rules prevailing in Sri Lankan public universities. From what I know, after obtaining his first degree from Kelaniya university Dr. Kumudu worked as a member of the research team headed by Dr. Newton Gunasinghe on a project on the agrarian question of Sri Lanka under an international research project carried out by the Social Scientists’ Association. Dr. Kumudu also obtained post graduate qualification in Economic Development for which he wrote an essay on Marxist debates on Agrarian Change. Later, Dr.Kumudu obtained a Masters degree in Sociology from the University of British Columbia writing a dissertation on Agrarian Change in Sri Lanka before he went onto obtain his Ph.D in Sociology from York University, Toronto. If Dr. Kumudu wanted favours from Dr. Arjuna Parakrama he need not have gone behind the X Group. You may not know that long before X Group came to know Dr. Parakrama, he was Dr. Kumudu’s batch mate at Kelaniya University studying together at the Department of English. During the repression of the Kelaniya student union under the JRJ regime, both Dr. Parakrama and Dr. Kumudu as independent activists represented student community, and student union leaders who had gone into hiding, in dealing with the JRJ regime. University academic appointments are made by an interview board consisting of an array of academic and administrative representatives from the university system including the Ministry of Higher Education and the UGC, and the Vice Chancellor, the Dean of the relevant faculty, Head of the relevant Department, Senior Professors in the relevant Department, representatives from other faculties among others.

ඔබ ඉහත ලිපිය ( අප වෙත ඒවා තිබු කොමෙන්ටුව) විසින් අප කුමුදු කුසුම් කුමාර මහතා ගැන කියූ කිසිවක් වැරදි බව ඔප්පු කර නැත. ඒ වෙනුවට ඔබ අප කී කරුණු වඩාත් සත්‍ය බවට තහවුරු කර ඇත. උදාහරණයක් වශයෙන් අප කීවේ කොළඹ විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයේ සමාජ විද්‍යා අංශයට කුමුදු කුසුම් කුමාරව බදවා ගන්නා විට ඊට අදාලව තිබූ මූලික කොන්දේසිය වූ සාමජ විද්‍යා ප්‍රථම උපාධියක් තිබිය යුතු බවයි. කුමුදුට සමාජ විද්‍යාව පිළිබද ප්‍රථම උපාධියක් නැත. ඔහුට ඇත්තේ දර්ශණය පිළිබදව ප්‍රථම උපාධියක් පමණි. ඒ අනුව දෙපාර්ථමේන්තුවේ මූලික නීති රීති යළි අර්ථකථනය කොට ඇත. එසේ කිරීම අපට අනුව අධ්‍යාපනික වශයෙන් හරයාත්මකය. මන්ද යත් කුමුදු කුසුම් කුමාර යනු සමාජ විද්‍යාව ඉගැන්වීම සදහා අවශ්‍ය විකල්ප දැනුම රැස්කර ගත් පුද්ගලයෙක් නිසාවෙනි. සම්මුඛ පරීක්ෂණ මණ්ඩලයේ මතය වූයේ ද එයයි. ඒ නිසා සම්මුඛ පරීක්ෂණ මණ්ලය විසින් අනාගතයේ දී කුමුදු විසින් සැපිරිය යුතු කොන්දේසි මාලාවක් යෝජනා කරන ලදි. සුරේන්දු මහතා සදහන් කරන කුමුදු ගේ පසුව එකතු කර ගත් සුදුසුකම වන්නේ එම කොන්දේසිය සැපිරීමයි. එනම් පශ්චාත්-උපාධි සහතික ඉදිරිපත් කිරීමයි.මෙම තොරතුරු අපට එවකට ලබා දුන්නේ අර්ජුන පරාත්‍රම මහතාමය. අර්ජුන සහ කුමුදු කැළණිය විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයේ සමකාලින මිතුරන් බව අපි හොදින් දනිමු. එපමණක් නොව සුරේන්ද්‍ර මහතාටත් වඩා හොදින් අප දන්නා පරිදි කුමුදු කුසුම් කුමාර යනු හොද ගුරුවරයෙකි. කුමුදු සහ අප අතර ඇති ආරෝව පටන් ගත් තැන සුරේන්ද්‍ර මහතාට කුමුදු ගෙන්ම අසා දැන ගන්නට හැකිය. දේශපාලනයේ දී අනෙක් මිනිසුන් විචාර කරන විධි ක්‍රමය බුර්ෂුවා තාලයට ඌණනය කර මෙන් සුරේන්දු මහතා අපගෙන් කරන ඉල්ලීමට අප එකග වන්නේ නැත. ඒ සදහා ඕනෑ තරම් උදාහරණ මාක්ස්-ලෙනින්වාදී සාහිත්‍යයේ දක්නට ඇත. එබැවින් දේශපාලන විචාරයේ දී අප අනුගමනය කරනු ලබන විචාර විධි ක්‍රමය ඔබ වැනි මැද පාන්තික බුද්ධිමතුන්ට අල්ලන්නේ නැතිවාට අපට කරන්නට දෙයක් නැත. අවසාන වශයෙන් කුමුදු කුසුම් කුමාර තම සම්මුඛ පරීක්ෂණයට සහභාගී වීමෙන් අනතුරුව ධම්මගේ කාමරයේ දී පැවසු සමහර විට කුමුදුට දැන් මතක නැතිව ඇති. කුමුදුව විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයට බදවා ගැනීම සදහා යම් බලපෑමක් සිදු වූවාද නැද්ද යන්න කට කතා වලට අදාල මාතෘකාවක් නොව හර්දය සාක්ෂියට අදාල මාතෘකාවකි. අවශ්‍ය කෙනෙකුට අර්ජුන පරාක්‍රම මහතා පෞද්ගලිකව හමුවීමෙන් මේ ගැන වැඩි දුර විස්තර ලබාගත හැකිය.

    Thank you for your response which however, is an attempt to hide under wordplay.

    This is what I challenged from what you said about Dr. Kumudu’s appointment to the Department of Sociology at the University.

    “කුමුදු කුසුම් කුමාරට තිබෙන ප්‍රාථමික උපාධිය දර්ශණයට අදාලය. නමුත් ඔහු සේවය කරන්නේ සමාජ-විද්‍යා දෙපාර්ථමේන්තුවේය. තම රැකියාවට අදාලව සම්මුඛ පරීක්ෂණයට මුහුණ දුන් කුමුදුට ඒ ගැන විශ්වාසයක් තිබුනේ නැත. එවකට විශ්ව-විද්‍යාලයේ සිටි පිඨාඨිපති අර්ජුන පරාක්‍රමට කියා කුමුදුගේ රැකියාව සහතික කරන ලද්දේ කවුද?”

    Here you are suggesting that your X Group asked Dr. Arjuna Parakrama to get Dr. Kumudu his appointment.

    My point was and is that if Dr. Kumudu wanted a favour from Dr. Parakrama, why should he go after the X Group when Dr. Kumudu and Dr. Parakrama have known each other as batch mates as undergraduates in the university long before the X Group came to know Dr. Parakrama?

    This shows that your insinuation above amounts to sheer slandering of someone, who has fallen out with you, with a view to discredit him in the eye of the public.
    Therefore while avoiding answering my question which was raised on the basis of your own statement, now you make further claims to complicate this simple issue.

    Let me ask a couple of simple questions from you that would help clarify the matter. Pl. answer them directly and factually.

    1. What is your source for claiming that Dr. Kumudu has a first degree in philosophy? You can’t go by heresay when you want to criticize a person.

    2. What are the qualifications that were required to join the Department of Sociology at the time Dr. Kumudu was recruited to the Department? Pl. provide facts. Don’t go by heresay.

    3. What do you mean when you say the department had to interpret basic rules and regualtions (ඒ අනුව දෙපාර්ථමේන්තුවේ මූලික නීති රීති යළි අර්ථකථනය කොට ඇත). ? What are these rules and regulations you are referring to? Do you know that the decisions regarding appointment are made at the interview panel itself and not at the Department level because recruitment procedures/ rules and regulations are laid down by the University/ University Grants Commission and not by each department?

    4. You are misrepresenting facts when you say “සුරේන්දු මහතා සදහන් කරන කුමුදු ගේ පසුව එකතු කර ගත් සුදුසුකම වන්නේ එම කොන්දේසිය සැපිරීමයි. එනම් පශ්චාත්-උපාධි සහතික ඉදිරිපත් කිරීමයි.” All the post-graduate qualifications (except the PhD ) I have mentioned as Dr. Kumudu had obtained, he had at the time of the interview. They were not obtained after the interview as you are suggesting. As for the PhD, Dr. Kumudu came for the interview from Canada where he was reading for the PhD.

Was it that X Group influenced Dr. Arjuna Parakrama to recruit Dr. Kumudu? Why did the X group have to influence Dr. Parakrama on Dr. Kumudu’s behalf if you admit Dr. Kumudu and Dr. Parakrama were friends from their undergrad days (“අර්ජුන සහ කුමුදු කැළණිය විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයේ සමකාලින මිතුරන් බව අපි හොදින් දනිමු.”)
